Just don't install the game in C:Program Files. Make a games folder in 'My Documents' and install it there. Make a folder in there called 'Bethesda Softwork' and set the game to be installed in My Documents/Games/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion. The guy form the pc department said it cant run on vista nor any of the mods or dlc, i probally ask for my money back and get the retail then resevl4rlz I don't trust the people at Best Buy/Future Shop. I read an article, where A person simply unplugged one of his SATA cables from his hard drives and tried to get it repaired at the Geek Squad. They told him he had a major virus, and they could fix it for something like $200. He took his computer back, replugged the SATA cable, and everything went back to normal. I wouldn't trust the people who work there. QUOTE='resevl4rlz'QUOTE='StrawberryHill'Yeah, don't miss the mods. The only 'issue' that sometimes pops up is the UAC asking for confirmation when installing mods to the Program Files path - this can be gotten over by changing security permissions on the Oblivion folder to give the user full permissions. Shivering Isles adds a nice touch of crazy fantasy that Oblivion was lacking. Direct2drive is having a 50% off the game and is 17.95.
Is it worth getting resevl4rlz No, Oblivion is one of the worst games ever made. If you want a great Elder Scrolls game get Morrowind Game of the Year Edition or Daggerfall. QUOTE='carlosjuero'To clear up some misconceptions: 1) Vista users can use mods.
I have been using mods no problem on Vista - whoever gave out the line that they couldn't was feeding a line of bunk 2) Direct2Drive versions can use mods - the only thing they cannot use is the Oblivion Script Extender (and mods requiring it), because it modifies the executable. This is the same as Steam Users becaus the protection is built into the exe file.
Valve updated the Steam version of the Oblivion executable so it can use OBSE, actually. QUOTE='resevl4rlz'direct2drive is having a 50% off the game and is 17.95.
